Things to do from the comfort of your own home
With the world on standstill and many in lockdown or self-isolation, time can feel like it's going reaaaaally reaaaally slow. So we put together a list of things that you can do from the comfort of your own home!
Virtual museum tours:
- The Louvre: Never been to Paris to see inside the Louvre? Well now you can with a virtual tour here.
- Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum: is art from Picasso, Piet Mondrain, Jeff Koon, and Franz Marc something more of your speed. Check out this virtual tour here to see their online collection
- Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History: you can see every room in this tour, with dinosaurs, ocean life, and a mammal hall being some of the exhibits. Click here.
- Van Gogh Museum: You can see some of his famous work here!
- Getty Museum: Famous in LA, you can take a look at this museum here.
- Vatican Museum: ever wanted to see whats in here? You can see the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica, Raphael's room, and much more here!
- Georgia O'Keeffe Museum: Into American modernism? There are six exhibits you can check here.
- National Museum of Anthropology: Let's take a trip to Mexico City and see some Mayan artifacts here.
- British Museum: In London you can check out the Rosetta Stone or some Egyptian mummies here.

- Rijksmuseum: head to Amsterdam and see this stunning museum showcasing the Golden Age of Dutch art here
- National Museum of the United States Air Force: take a look at some famous aircrafts and military weapons and aircrafts here
- MoMA: NY's modern art museum can be viewed here.
- Museum of Fine Arts: Boston is show casing 16 exhibits that include a section of 21st century designer fashion here.
- The Dali Theatre-Museum: take a trip to Spain and see a museum completely dedicated to the work of Salvador Dali. Check it out here
- Pergamon Museum: in Berlin this museum has a lot to offer and is home to so many artifacts. You can check it out here

Zoos & Aquariums
- Calgary Zoo: Watch their Pandacam to see Er Shun and Da Mao hangout and do their thing here
- Orcalab: here in Hanson Island, BC you can see some sleepy sea lions hanging out here.
- Vancouver Aquarium: if you want to see a live cam of penguins check it out here or you can see some otters here
- Cincinnati Zoo: holds a daily home safari on it's Facebook live feed here

Other things you can do:
- Start working out: Youtube as well as local businesses are offering reduced or free online programs. Examples are Breathe Fitness, Xtherapy (you can rent a bike from them!), Studio B, ATHX, Black Tusks Athletics, OM Hot Yoga, Prana Yoga Studio
- Take a cooking class: Get cooking Edmonton offers some online courses
- Play some games: pull out old childhood games or dive into online games! Anyone remember sites like Miniclip? There are even games you can play with friends through apps like House Party, Uno app, monopoly app, or Jackbox. Or you can always just pull out a good old fashion board game.
- Attend an event: There are so many virtual events you can attend and some of them are listed here!
- Support Edmonton International Film Festival: you can still attend EIFF virtually here
- Check out local attractions: many places still offer things to do online such as Telus World of Science,
- Dance: tons of studios are offering online classes including the National Ballet!
- Take a class: some universities are offering free courses and you can check them out here
Of course you also don't have to start anything new. Just enjoying your time and being present, even if that looks like binge watching a new show is still great! Just make sure you are taking care of you
