The Intersection: Burnt-out Part 1 and Part
For Mental Health Awareness Month Yeg Wellness Collective partnered with Londonderry Mall, to provide some helpful tips on how to cope with your mental health or whatever else you may be going through. The Episode Recap:
Good old Google defines Burnout as: fatigue, frustration, or apathy resulting from prolonged stress, overwork, or intense activity. It happens when you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet constant demands. Burnout can also cause long-term changes to your body that make you vulnerable to illnesses such as colds, flu and many more (Help Guide).
Basically, it is so important for you to recognize when you're experiencing Burnout. The causes may differ for every individual, therefore, it is important to know and be aware of what triggers your stress, and in turn affects your mental health.
In part 1 of the episode, we recognize how everyone is overwhelmed due to the global pandemic, and how we may all be in a state of paranoia, inconsistency, change and much more. We discuss how we all had to adjust to this new life that we all find ourselves in and how despite all of the changes that came with the pandemic, we somehow still had to live our everyday lives. Enter burnout.
Part 2 of the episode discusses the side affects of the pandemic and how we have all been coping. We break down stress into some scientific facts and talk about coping versus self-care.
Some tips that works for us that we touch on incudes: exercising, being compassionate to ourselves, having healthy boundaries, saying no, and practicing self-care.
