My song “Sniper’s Nest” tells the story of a lone Sniper who is the only survivor of a massacre. The sniper watches from afar and watches all his friends die on the battlefield helpless to do anything to save them. The Sniper hides in his Sniper’s Nest full of regret and loneliness, he debates going out and dying himself along with his fallen friends but he is conflicted when he thinks of all the things in his life that he has to lose and all of the things he has to live for. Ultimately, he decides to run from the battlefield and finds hope in the fact that he chose to live.
This song is a metaphor coming face to face with suicide and the internal struggle that comes with that. I think that most people don’t realize or understand that conflict that you have within yourself when you are just so tired and you want it to stop but you don’t want to die. I wanted to make the experience in this song raw and real. On a personal level this song details the suicidal thoughts that I had over the past 2 years. However, it also showcases the aftermath and coming out of that struggle alive. I want to shed light on being at war with yourself and send a message that its okay not to be okay, but I also want people to understand the dangers that come with Mental Health issues.
