Spotlight Saturday: Additional Domestic Violence Resources & a Song!
Hi Friends,
We are so happy that you guys feel comfortable to reach out to us and let us know some additional resources out there for topics we have already talked about. It's so important to keep us connected so that we can share it to everyone else.
This past month, two wonderful people reached out to us to highlight some great resources around DV that I (Brittany) and I'm sure Joana are so excited to share with you guys.
The first one is a website found here. It is a women's guide for internet safety written by women for women. And guys, it's awesome. It talks a lot about social media, breaking it down by each social (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat) and gives you hands on tips of how to protect yourself online, things to look out for (like doxing, which I had no idea what this was!), and clear understandings of certain privacy settings for each social. It even has a section devoted to sexual harassment at work (including working from home or from LinkedIn) and what the reporting process could look like.
The final section is around dating and sexual harassment. The first part goes over online dating, a topic I think is so important due to the amount of dating apps that have come out of the last 10 years. It then dives into great ways to protect yourself even with sexting, something not a lot of us may think about until there are consequences. Finally, it goes into real life dating and different ways to protect yourself whether it is the first date your on or something else happens while you are out.
What I love about it is that they offer great simple real life advice and provide you with so many great apps available that can help keep you safe, especially when you are out on your Hinge or Tinder date. This is something that I wish I did more of, and can just say that I am lucky I went out with nice respectable men, because there were moments that I realized I was leaving myself very vulnerable for something togo wrong.
So check it out guys.
The other resource we wanted to showcase is this BEAUTIFUL and powerful song someone has shared with us. It is now on Spotify and we are so excited for this beautiful soul. It is called United in Silence by Golden Goddess and it's so moving. To check it out you can go on Spotify here.
Let us know what you think of these resources!
