Swimming Lessons

Part of drowning prevention is knowing how to swim. You would be surprised how many people actually don't know how to do the basic skills of swimming, and these are skills that could save your life.

So what are your options for swimming here in Edmonton and surrounding areas?

Parents & Tots
This program is designed to have parents in the water with their youngsters. Parents learn to teach their child about the water. Parents can also increase their safety awareness through active participation in the class. There are various levels depending on the age of your young one. It starts as early as 4 months to 36 months.

Preschool Programs
Preschool programs range from the ages of 3 to 5 years and are unparented programs. Here kidds can learn some basic skills including safe entries and exits, life jacket uses, basic floats, and other water safety skills.

Youth and Teens
There are also programs for youth and teens so it is never too late to learn! There are entry level programs to advance programs, including learning how to further your swim strokes and distances. To learn more click here.

Don't have a high income? You may qualify for the Leisure Access Program (LAP), which is a program that allows low-income Edmontonians to access participating City of Edmonton recreation facilities through an annual pass or subsidized yearly pass. What's included?

Annual Pass

  • Free, unlimited admission to participating facilities
  • 75% discount for 3 adult/seniors registered programs
  • 75% discount for each child for 4 registered programs 
  • Access to 1 bucket a day at the Victoria driving range
  • Access to the Reuse Center for 24 free visits per year
Monthly Pass
  • Discounted monthly admission to participating facilities.
