Spotlight Saturdays: Caregiver Education Series with AHS
Throughout May and June, Alberta Health Services is hosting various FREE sessions throughout Edmonton for parents wanting to learn more about mental health, addiction and other challenges faced by children and youth today. Sessions include opportunities to learn respectful limit setting with adolescents, managing anxiety in children and teens, learning about developmental changes as youth transition from junior high to high school, building resiliency and SO MUCH MORE.
As quoted by the AHS Caregiver Series website:
"These free 90 minute sessions are intended to provide parents, caregivers, teachers, and community members with basic information about addiction and mental health challenges that can impact children and youth. Presentations are hosted in schools but are open to all adults to attend. Note that some sessions focus on topics relating to elementary school children while others apply mainly to adolescents. Unless specified, sessions are for an adult audience; however, some sessions welcome youth to attend with their parent(s)/caregiver(s)."
AHS is offering over 16 sessions FREE of charge. Some sessions are for adults only, where others you are welcome to bring your child/teen along! Below is a link to their pdf outlining further information on the sessions offered including a description, time and location, and where to go to register for the events. And again, it is all free!
